Grade selection depends on several factors — the contaminant type, molecular size, required removal efficiency, contact time, and whether your system uses a fixed bed or slurry dosing. As a starting guide:

• Coconut shell GAC — Best for small molecules: chlorine, THMs, taste and odour, gold cyanide. Preferred for drinking water, pharmaceuticals, and gold recovery
• Coal GAC — Better for larger organic molecules: COD, dyes, phenols. Cost-effective at scale for wastewater and industrial effluent
• Powdered AC (PAC) — Where contact time is short or a fixed bed is impractical. Emergency dosing, batch pharmaceutical processes, and food decolourisation
• Pellets — Gas-phase applications requiring low pressure drop, high crush strength, and minimal dust generation
