Yes. Custom grade engineering is a core MICBAC service. Our technical team works directly with your process engineers to develop a grade matched to your validated TDS. Adjustable parameters include:
- Iodine value — 400 to 1,200 mg/g
- Methylene blue value for colour removal applications
- Mesh size and particle size distribution
- Moisture content and ash level
- Crush strength and hardness for column design
- Surface area and pore structure for application-specific adsorption
Once validated, production parameters are locked and reproduced batch-to-batch with controlled variance. Every shipment includes a CoA confirming compliance with your approved specification. Private label packaging and NDA agreements are available from 5 MT upward.
-
MICBAC India operates under a certified quality management system with compliance against the following international standards:
- ISO Certified — Quality Management System
- ASTM Standards — D2854 (apparent density), D4607 (iodine number), D3838 (pH)
- AWWA B604 — Granular activated carbon for water treatment compliance
- USP / EP Pharma Grade — Food grade and pharmaceutical compliant grades available
- Third-party inspection — SGS and Bureau Veritas pre-shipment inspection available on request
Certificate copies and full test reports for all active grades are available on request. Sample retention is maintained for 12 months post-shipment.

-
Grade selection depends on several factors — the contaminant type, molecular size, required removal efficiency, contact time, and whether your system uses a fixed bed or slurry dosing. As a starting guide:
- Coconut shell GAC — Best for small molecules: chlorine, THMs, taste and odour, gold cyanide. Preferred for drinking water, pharmaceuticals, and gold recovery
- Coal GAC — Better for larger organic molecules: COD, dyes, phenols. Cost-effective at scale for wastewater and industrial effluent
- Powdered AC (PAC) — Where contact time is short or a fixed bed is impractical. Emergency dosing, batch pharmaceutical processes, and food decolourisation
- Pellets — Gas-phase applications requiring low pressure drop, high crush strength, and minimal dust generation
If you are unsure, share your application, influent quality, and target contaminants with our technical team. We will recommend the optimal grade with technical justification — at no cost and with no obligation to order.
